Warm Tone Yarn Mallets Maple Handle

Engineered to prioritise musical responsiveness over raw power, these mallets use densely wound yarn over resilient core material, mounted on sustainably sourced, straight-grain maple. Handle diameter: 12 mm; overall length: 38.5 cm; weight per mallet: 66–69 g. No lacquer or sealant applied — surface retains natural wood porosity for optimal grip retention. The yarn head yields a broad, even contact patch that minimises bar edge noise and promotes fundamental-focused tone production — particularly beneficial on older or less-tuned school marimbas. Maple’s moderate density ensures fast rebound without excessive inertia, supporting rapid note repetition and clean rhythmic articulation. Validated across diverse UK learning contexts — from primary music hubs to sixth-form percussion labs — they serve as the default mallet for initial sight-reading, scale fluency drills, and repertoire building in both solo and section-based instruction.
