Description

This umeboshi is produced in Japan according to the traditional method. The plum of the ume variety is harvested unripe and stored in salt and shiso leaves for a long period to give it its characteristic red color. The plums are then left to dry in the sun for a week and then put away to mature in barrels for another year. Thanks to the aging, the typical salty and sour taste will develop. Umeboshi plums help digestion. Ideal for use in the kitchen with vegetables and cereals. Use in cooking with vegetables and cereals or mashed and pureed to season and prepare sauces.
