Programmable DDS Signal Generator with Sine and Square Wave Output Serial Interface Module for Microprocessors

The AD9833 is a low-power programmable waveform generator capable of producing sine, triangle, and square wave outputs. It is suitable for waveform detection, signal generation, and time-domain reflectometry (TDR) applications requiring precise and stable frequency and phase control. The device is software-programmable and requires no external components for basic operation. Its 28-bit frequency register enables fine frequency resolution: up to 0.1 Hz with a 25 MHz reference clock, or 0.004 Hz with a 1 MHz clock. It features a standard serial interface compatible with microcontrollers and DSPs, supporting serial clock frequencies up to 40 MHz. The AD9833 operates from a 2.3 V to 5.5 V supply and consumes 12.65 mW at 3 V. Output frequency range: 0 Hz to 12.5 MHz. Waveform outputs: sine, triangle, square. Reference clock input: up to 25 MHz. Power-down (sleep) mode reduces power consumption by disabling unused internal blocks. Operating temperature range: –40 °C to +105 °C. Typical specifications are specified at 25 °C.
