Cleaning Your Carburetor General carburetor maintenance can prevent serious damage. Any deposits can be removed from the main jet with carburetor cleaner and compressed air. 4. Cleaner loosens and smothers any deposits in your carburetor. Carburetor Removal Disconnect spark plug wire and secure away from spark plug. 5. Then remove the air filter assembly. Close the fuel valve at the bottom of the fuel tank. Disconnect the carburetor, remove the nuts and slide the carburetor off the studs.
