Fun Emotional Regulation Game

Dont Go Bananas is a compact, portable card game supporting emotional awareness and self-management for children aged 6+, teens, and adults. It accommodates 2–4 players and fits easily into a backpack or classroom supply cupboard. The set includes 56 double-sided, glossy-finish cards (approx. 6 x 9 cm) and a concise instruction leaflet — all made from FSC-certified board stock with water-based inks. Box dimensions: 12 × 9 × 3 cm; weight: 185 g. Gameplay centres on cooperative tension and individual choice: players collectively build a shared 'banana pile' while each managing their own emotional load indicator. Drawing certain cards increases personal 'banana count', prompting conscious decisions — hold and risk overload, discard to reset, or use special 'calm down' cards to support others. There are no winners or losers — success is measured by group reflection and sustained engagement. Used across diverse UK contexts: primary and secondary classrooms (especially for PSHE and nurture group work), family homes seeking screen-free connection, youth clubs, and early-intervention mental health support. Its neutral, playful theme avoids stigma — children refer to it as 'the monkey game', not 'the feelings game', lowering resistance and increasing voluntary participation.
