DIY Hand-Cranked 15-Tone Box

Dimensions: 7 x 13 x 4.8 cm. Built from natural wood with no varnish or synthetic finish. Weighs approx. 120 g. Features a manually wound 15-note steel comb mechanism activated by turning the side crank. Package includes: 1 wooden music box, 1 metal hole puncher, 3 pre-programmed paper music tapes, and 2 blank paper tapes for custom arrangements. All sound is generated purely mechanically — no electronics, no power source. The crank drives a gear train that rotates the pinned drum; each pin lifts a tuned steel tooth on the comb, producing clean, resonant tones. Paper tapes are inserted into the drum slot and advanced one step per crank revolution — timing and pitch depend entirely on tape hole placement and spacing. Perfect for focused listening, mindfulness practice, or as an engaging introduction to music theory for teens and adults. Its gentle volume and organic timbre suit bedrooms, study spaces, therapy rooms, or intimate social settings where ambient sound should be calming, not intrusive.
