Compact Condenser Mic Preamplifier

The MA-2S is a dedicated 3.5mm condenser microphone preamplifier and mixer built for simplicity and functional clarity. Housed in a lightweight black plastic enclosure, it features a single 3.5mm TRS input/output interface and a DC 5.5 × 2.1 mm power jack (centre positive). No power supply is included. Its amplification profile is purpose-specific: ~100× gain for dynamic microphones, ~22× for condenser microphones, and ~5× for line-level music sources. The final mixed output is strong enough to feed standard earphones directly. To prevent clipping, the peak output voltage must remain below the DC supply voltage — meaning higher supply voltages (e.g., 12V vs 5V) yield greater headroom and cleaner signal reproduction. A stable, low-ripple DC power source is essential to maintain signal integrity and avoid hum or instability.
