The active filtration layer is a laminated composite: optically clear PET film bonded to a precision-thickness aluminum coating — manufactured to meet solar attenuation benchmarks used in institutional observatories and NASA-affiliated education programmes. Film thickness and coating density are calibrated to deliver neutral-density transmission (~0.0001% visible light throughput) with flat spectral response — preserving contrast and detail in solar granulation and limb darkening. Cap interior features soft-touch matte finish to prevent marring of lens coatings during insertion or removal. Intended for white-light solar monitoring only. Requires full coverage — no gaps, overlaps, or partial application. Each unit undergoes visual inspection for micro-defects prior to packaging. Users must verify undamaged condition before every solar session — replacement is non-negotiable upon detection of any surface anomaly, however minor.
