APC-Compatible USB RJ12 Converter

A purpose-built USB-to-RJ12 (6P6C) serial interface cable engineered to replace the APC 940-0144 and 940-0144A cables. Built around an authentic FTDI FT232RL USB-UART bridge with integrated RS232 transceiver, it delivers bit-perfect serial communication between any USB-equipped host and APC PDUs or UPS systems. Physically identical in connector layout and cable routing profile to the OEM part, with reinforced molded terminations for longevity. Supports APC’s full range of metered and switched PDUs: AP78xx, AP79xx, AP86xx, AP88xx, AP89xx, AP7000, AP8000, AP9000, AP6000 and AP77xx series. Driver support is comprehensive and mature: Windows (XP through 10, all major Server versions, x64), macOS (OS X and classic Mac OS), Linux (kernel ≥2.6), Android, Windows CE.NET and Windows RT. No proprietary software required — works with standard terminal emulators (PuTTY, screen, minicom), APC PowerChute, or API-driven automation tools. The FT232RL chip guarantees stable latency, correct framing and robust error handling — crucial when polling dozens of PDUs in large-scale deployments. Used by data centre technicians and MSPs to eliminate dependency on aging desktops with DB9 ports, simplify remote hands procedures, and standardise cabling across hybrid infrastructures — especially where space-constrained servers or modern laptops lack native serial interfaces.
