Authentic replacement controller board (part number 100717520 REV B) compatible with Seagate ST3000DM001 and ST2000DM001 hard drives. Constructed with organic resin insulation to ensure consistent electrical isolation and mechanical durability over time. This board functions only when paired with the original BIOS chip (ROM/NVRAM), which must be carefully desoldered from the donor drive’s failed PCB and reinstalled. Without this transfer, the drive cannot decode its own system area, resulting in complete inaccessibility of stored data. Applicable only where failure mode is isolated to the printed circuit board — e.g., shorted MOSFETs, failed crystal oscillator, or damaged SATA transceiver. Not suitable for drives exhibiting mechanical noise, intermittent spin, or firmware corruption affecting microcode execution beyond the controller layer.
